Ration Card e-KYC Deadline Extended: Last Chance to Complete Before April 30, 2025

The Central Government has again extended the deadline for e-KYC verification of ration cardholders, making the new final date April 30, 2025. This was the fourth extension. Officials emphasize that this will be the last extension granted for the process.

Any beneficiary who does not complete the process by this date risks getting their ration card canceled, thus preventing access to government-controlled subsidized food grains.

Why Extend Further?

The deadline was earlier fixed for March 31, 2025, which was extended since millions of pending e-KYC verifications are pending across the country. This is because the government wants to get rid of corruptions and misconducts, and increase transparency in Public Distribution.

State as well as district administrations will implement this time frame and will speedily raise awareness for maximum compliance.

An Alarmingly Large Amount of e-KYC Slips

Out of a total of 15,76,222 ration card holders in Kishanganj district, as many as 10,66,102, or about 67.64 percent, have completed the verification process. Less Scary, though, 5,10,120 beneficiaries still do not have verification done, which is around 32.36 percent. If it continues like this, many families may find ration cancellation come May 1, 2025.

Block-Wise Breakdown of Pending e-KYCs

  • Thakurganj – 92,131 pending
  • Kochadhaman – 82,637 pending
  • Bahadurganj – 76,313 pending
  • Kishanganj – 73,322 pending
  • Dighalbank – 72,547 pending
  • Pothia – 69,054 pending
  • Terhagachh – 44,116 pending

These figures highlight critical gaps in either public awareness or access to e-KYC facilities, leaving many vulnerable to losing essential food security benefits.

Why Is e-KYC Mandatory?

The government’s push for 100% e-KYC compliance is part of a larger effort to:

  • Prevent duplicate and fake ration cards
  • Ensure only eligible beneficiaries receive subsidies
  • Streamline ration distribution with digital tracking

Urgent Call to Action

Despite repeated extensions, public response remains disappointingly low. On March 31, only 426 beneficiaries in Kishanganj completed their e-KYC—a shockingly low number.

If you haven’t completed your e-KYC yet, act now! Visit your nearest ration office or Common Service Centre (CSC) to complete the process before April 30, 2025.
