Being perhaps an auspicious occasion considering the forthcoming Navratri, the government announced a cut in prices of commercial LPG cylinders, sorely needed by businesses and households that depend on commercial LPG.
From April 1, 2025, one will have to cut a check for an amount ranging from ₹1,762 to ₹1,804 for a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder. However, no change has been made in the rates of 14 kg domestic LPG cylinders.
Commercial LPG Price Update
Indian Oil Corporation has revised prices to find commercial cylinders cheaper in all major cities:
- Delhi: Cut from ₹1,803 to ₹1,762, making it cheaper by ₹41.
- Kolkata: Prices cut from ₹1,913 to ₹1,868, ₹45 less.
- Mumbai: New price is ₹1,713 as compared to ₹1,749.50, less by ₹36.50.
- Chennai: From ₹1,965 price cut to ₹1,921, which is ₹44 less.
This price reduction is a big reprieve for small businesses, restaurants, and street vendors who use commercial LPG for the day-to-day operations. With regard to timing during Navratri, this occasion is all the more important, as many households and businesses enjoy a boom in activity.
No Change in Prices of Domestic LPG Cylinder
Though commercial users are getting the benefit of price cuts, the price of 14 kg LPG cylinders remains unchanged for domestic consumers. The current prices being charged in major cities are:
- Delhi: ₹803
- Lucknow: ₹840.50
- Kolkata: ₹829
- Mumbai: ₹802.50
- Chennai: ₹818.50
The last revision in the domestic prices of LPG was on 1st August 2024, and for now, they have remained unchanged. This way, families can plan their budgets even with fluctuating costs of other fuels.
